Pet Therapy
We offer pet therapy and animal visits , it is very special to see the bond humans have with animals, for most people, the presence of an animal prompts the body to release serotonin, prolactin and oxytocin. These hormones generate a relaxation and stress reducing response.

Arts and Crafts
Most of the decorations in the home yo see for special events are made by our residents here.
Whether it be Halloween, Christmas, Easter or special events such as Mothers day & Fathers day, you can bet you will find our residents busy painting and making stuff to put up around the home.
Games and Sensory Activities
Here at Corner Lodge you will always find a variety of Games being played such as Balloon Tennis, Carpet Bowles, Board Games and Interactive Tablet activities.
For Residents with Dementia sensory activities are vitally important.
This promotes good hand co-ordination as well as providing exercise without residents realising they are actually exercising. Not to mention the fun and laughter it brings to the residents.
We will always try and promote all residents to take part where possible providing stumilation on a daily basis.
Interaction with the Community
Corner Lodge are priveleged to be part of community groups such as Sailship and Fans.
Sailship is a charity supporting the whole community
They champion work & life skills training for people living with a learning disability.
They support therapeutic pathways for improved mental health and well-being for the wider community - people of all ages and offer dementia friendly spaces within their grounds.
Sailship have invited us to their centres to take part in activities alongside their volunteers, bringing the community togther.
FaN's Network is another charity that organise events such as Theatre Trips, Christmas meals, Parties, donating of gifts and help to fund special events for residents.
Music Therapy
We understand the importance of music therapy and how it plays a vital role within our home. We have outside entertainers come in and sing for us on a regular basis , we have 2 choirs who perform for us regularly. Music can be used as a form of therapy, helping people cope with emotions. It can also lift spirits when you're feeling down or overwhelmed by life's changes.
The Trishaw
Corner Lodge are very priveleged to be the only Care Home to have weekly visits from the Trishaw.
The Trishaw is an electric pedal powered vehicle that seats two people at the front whilst another person drives it. The driver in this case is P.C Con, a local police officer who volunteers to take one of our residents and a carer / family member out for a ride along our the promended with views of our beautiful beaches. They also stop along the way for a cuppa and an ice cream.
This activity is great for residents with dementia as it gets them out into the fresh air, getting to meet people, great for their minds and wellbeing as well as having one to one time with their loved ones.
Garden Activities
Corner Lodge were awarded a special grant for our garden which enabled us to have specialist sensory garden residents.
This area is proudly maintained by our Home Manager Millie, whom oyu will often find pottering about with her gardening tools!
Residents have their own fruit and vegtable patches where they are able to plant their own fruit and veg and take pride in watching it grow and then harvest their home grown food once ready.
If residents just feel like sitting outside in the sun with loved ones, they are free to do so and we have a beautiful covered area for shade and cover should the heavens open.
As well as all this there are various sensory areas to wander around as they please, feeling all the different textures.
